DECEMBER 1, 2016 — The Williamsport Area School District Education Foundation recently concluded its annual holiday essay contest, during which students in kindergarten through sixth grade were asked to answer, in 200 words or less: "What does the holiday season mean to you and why?"
NOVEMBER 30, 2016 — Led by fifth-grade student Brayden March, students from Mrs. Ann Hammond's class at Lycoming Valley Intermediate School raised $622.46 for Wayne County Public Schools in Wayne County, North Carolina.
NOVEMBER 22, 2016 — The Williamsport Area School District Education Foundation recently approved the distribution of $18,393 to fund eight projects and programs recently, seven of which are part of the organization's annual Teacher Mini-Grant Program.
OCTOBER 26, 2016 — Congratulations to the 118 kindergarten to sixth-grade students who successfully completed the 2016 summer reading program through the James V. Brown Library! In recognition of their achievement, each student has received a library book in their honor, complete with dedication bookplates.
OCTOBER 26, 2016 — A hands-on opportunity in school citizenship and service for WAHS life skills students is helping to alleviate hunger and improve the educational experience for some of their peers.
OCTOBER 14, 2016 — The WASD Education Foundation's alumni committee awarded this year's Distinguished Alumni Awards to Samuel E. Belle, Dr. Frederic G. Sanford and William E. Stroup, who were recognized during the high school's Homecoming game on Oct. 14.
OCTOBER 13, 2016 — WAHS National Art Honor Society students visited North Central Sight Services today to learn about visual impairment. While there, the group met the organization's associates who shared their stories, received a tour and participated in hands-on activities that simulated visual impairments.
OCTOBER 7, 2016 — The WASD Education Foundation is pleased to present its 2015-16 Annual Report, highlighting some of the year's results and reporting on its financial performance. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, revenue totaled $208,323 through contributions, pledges and grants that helped benefit 5,100 students.
OCTOBER 5, 2016 — Students at Williamsport Area Middle School received a lesson in pedestrian safety today, thanks to Safe Kids Pennsylvania, Lycoming County Partner, as part of International Walk to School Day.
OCTOBER 3, 2016 — Jackson Primary School's maker space initiative is featured in a supplemental issue of the latest edition of "Principal," a national education magazine with 23,000 subscribers.
