Dear Parent or Guardian,

My name is Ms. Kelli Vassallo.  I am your child’s sixth grade Language Arts teacher this year.  I would like to welcome you and your student to Curtin.  I am going to take this time to tell you a little bit about myself, and introduce my classroom discipline plan.  

 

I have been teaching Language Arts in this district for four years.  Language Arts is a class that includes reading, writing, spelling, and grammar.  I am a product of WASD.  I once attended Cochran, Curtin and also the WAHS.  My favorite things to do besides teaching 6th grade are: read, coach softball, spend time with my family and friends (especially my dog, Sadie), and watch movies.

I have high expectations in my classroom.  I give the utmost respect to all of the people I work with, especially the students.  Therefore, I expect it in return.  I will do everything in my power to make your child successful.  Hopefully, by working together, we can all have a great year.

In my classroom your child will be expected to follow these simple rules:
1.    CARE about yourself, your peers, and your work.
2.    WORK HARD at all you do.
3.    RESPECT your teachers, your peers, and yourself.
4.    LISTEN to your teachers and your peers.
5.    Follow school-wide behavior policy.

For students who do not follow the rules, the following consequences will be implemented:
1.    Verbal Warning
2.    Re-teaching of proper behavior on the student’s time (5 minutes after school-yellow card)
3.    Call or a note sent home in their agenda (15 minutes after school-red card)
4.    TIME OUT ROOM with a Discipline Form
5.    Go directly to the principal’s office
