Welcome to Mrs. Barry's Second Grade!!
Dear Parents,
Hello and welcome to Second Grade! I am excited about meeting your child and all the great things we will be doing this year.
Your child will have wonderful reading and writing experiences this year. We will be discovering reading through guided reading groups, as well as with popular children's literature selections. Each night your child will be bringing home a take-home reader. Please set aside some time each evening to read these books with your child.
Homework will usually be assigned Monday thru Thursday. This may include spelling, math, special projects, and/or take home readers. Please make sure your child completes the assignments. One of the hardest things for a second grader is remembering to bring back the completed assignments. I do not accept excuses for homework that is not returned. Please help your child get into the habit of returning his/her homework. If a child does not do or forgets his/her homework, he/she will receive an orange card and will be required to stay in at recess to complete the assignment. This orange card will be sent home for you to sign and then returned to me.
I have high expectations for your child and hope that your child will have an exciting and successful year in second grade!
